i switched back to opera after using firefox for some years, after researching a bit in the opera forums i modified the tabs and their behaviour to my needs:
- under preferences | advanced disable show close button on each tab and set Cycle Without Showing List as cycle method w/ ctrl+TAB
- i want to make the next tab to the right active after closing the current one so i changed ctrl+w shortcut to Close page & Switch to next page; optionally you can add a custom button right at the tab bar by editing your toolbarxyzt.ini and adding Button6, “Close”=Close page & Switch to next page,,,,”Caption Close”" in the [Document Toolbar.content] Section
